A GREAT START TO THE YEAR
Fractal Audio has given an extra New Year’s present to all Axe-Fx users: the software editor 'Axe-Edit', for Windows and Mac, has been greatly improved and has taken a giant leap towards its final version.
LOOK & FEEL
Most immediately noticeable are the editor’s new look and greatly improved usability. The new design is really very chic, but it’s not just a pretty face – it also makes working with the editor much easier and more efficient.
MORE INTUITIVE, MORE PRODUCTIVE, MORE EFFECTIVE
The developers obviously took great pains to fulfil the wishes of the actual users, many of whom made concrete suggestions on how it could be improved. It’s now much easier to see everything at a glance – the control pots are just where you expect them to be and it has all become much more intuitive. With the new version you are often right where you want to be after just a few clicks. Very nice. All in all, the productivity when working with the editor has been increased considerably. TRY WHATEVER YOU LIKE, WITHOUT ANY RISK
Just try something? Why not - the editor can now undo up to fifty actions. This Undo/Redo function makes it easy to get rid of changes that don’t give you the sound you’re looking for.
AXE-SHOT
On top of this there is now the option of taking ‘snapshots’ that you can go back to later. This makes it easy to try out different versions of a sound and then decide on the best one later. 2010 IMPROVEMENTS
Countless details have been improved – even the release notes don’t include all of them. To name just a few: Integration between the editor and the preset manager has been improved.
Graphic displays show the set frequency curve for effects such as Filter and Parametric EQ.
A new “Recall” function loads sounds from various sources.
A new “Save as” function allows direct saving to various target locations.
The “Sync” function saves the entire contents of the Axe-Fx with one click and can do much more besides.
DOWNLOAD
According to Fractal Audio this new version is still in Beta. This means it’s not quite finished and many small improvements are still planned. It’s also important to bear in mind that with Beta versions some functions may have bugs. Nevertheless, this new version has certainly made a big impression on us! It’s completely free for all Axe-Fx users and you can download it from Fractal Audio here or with the button below.
